Shreya's Audio Affairs
Hi!
I am Shreya Sharma. Some of you may know me as the writer of Inside Podcasting, some as the occasional writer of Podcast Marketing Magic, some as the co-host of The Download, and a few as the Gilmore Girls-loving, romance-reading, audio fiction- adoring goofball on Twitter. Most of you, however, will know how important audio is to me.
While I’ve had the privilege of writing with and for some great people in the audio space, I’ve yet to have a space which I can completely call my own. And that, is simply what this is.
So, here’s a little bit about the Audio Affairs:
What
Romantically speaking, the Audio Affairs are love letters to sound. Practically speaking, you can look forward to the following sections:
NicheCast - a collection of niche, truly niche, podcast playlists. Some examples are: a playlist for when your heart is breaking, a playlist for when you want to be anywhere but here, and a playlist for when you move to a new place.
Audiogazing - podcast recommendations by astrology. Aries season, you’re up first!
Love Letters to Sound - this one’s a bit of a surprise. Sorry to be this person but you’ll just have to stay tuned to find out.
Audiobook Reviews - well, that’s that. (You’re free to send recommendations, yes).
Why
I dare to be sassy here and say - because I can. Also, because I really want to. Honestly, every section of this newsletter has its own reasons for being born which I promise to share when I roll a new section out.
How often
Day - to start with, every second Thursday. First one drops on Thursday, March 16. Every Thursday will likely be a new section.
Time - I’m currently in Dubai so expect the release time to be early hours (ET/PT).
Two truths and a lie
I’m excited and hopeful for the community that the Audio Affairs might create. If you ever have an idea about a truly niche podcast playlist or an audiobook you’re particularly passionate about, this space is available to you at the low low price of sending me a hello.
I wouldn’t be starting this without the help and support of so many people in my life. So, if you ever have a suggestion, an idea, or even a kind word to share, please never hesitate to do so.
I am not absolutely mortified of doing this.

I am not a big fan of New Year’s Resolutions but I did make myself a promise this year - to surprise myself. I’d like to extend the same promise to you, reader. You might find some Audio Affairs more enthralling than others, but I promise you’ll find each one the slightest bit surprising.
